What grows in the invisible

It has been a long time since I spent winter in a place where nature truly expresses the season for what it is, ~ a time of hibernation, of turning inward, of allowing things to integrate, stabilize and grow in the unseen. Being here now is reminding me how essential it is to follow nature's rhythms and cycles, and how deeply this challenges the ego mind, which so often wants things to blossom before their time or insists that we should be doing something other than what is actually being asked of us.
There is a quiet reassurance in orienting toward nature, in reconnecting with what feels like the real reality, the deeper truth that becomes apparent when we attune ourselves to it. From that place, it becomes clearer what is truly worth our time, attention, and energy. Even when certain thoughts linger in the background, I experience this season as a gift. Nature demonstrating surrender and acceptance not as laziness or passivity, but as something truly necessary.
In this regard, winter is not really a pause in life; it is more a preparation, and what makes spring possible. Often, l've experienced, the deeper or more demanding the winter, the greater the capacity for rebirth, flowering, and renewal. And so, knowing this, I lean into what this season offers, with warmth, trust, and a growing sense of peace.
I was out with our dog Xochi the other day, to receive some of the exquisite solar light codes, which are rare these days, and I made this short little film from our walk.
What grows in the invisible, for me, is the capacity to hold. To hold myself with steadiness and honesty. To hold my environment without collapsing or controlling. To hold the people I care about with presence rather than rushing things. It is the gradual strengthening of an inner stance that is being asked of us, an embodied stability that does not depend on external confirmation or ideal conditions. Because there rarely are.
I sense that we are moving into a time where this kind of embodiment is not optional. What is needed are people who can remain integrated, who can carry what I call New Earth templates. These are not concepts, they are lived integrity in the body, the nervous system, and the choices we make under pressure. That kind of holding does not come from conviction alone. It comes from having moved through initiations, from having been tested, from knowing and experience...that one will not flinch, fragment, or abandon integrity when it truly matters.
There was a time when I believed I was ready. In fact, I believed that many years ago. I see now that I could not have known what readiness actually requires. That realization has brought humility on my path rather than disappointment. With it comes a deeper trust in timing, patience, and a recognition that preparation is not linear, nor visible from the outside.
What winter cultivates in me is this quiet, ongoing preparation. A strengthening of my being, of my resilience and my purpose. A deepening capacity to remain aligned across all layers of being, regardless of circumstance. And with that, a strange but steady knowing that my life is not winding down or repeating itself, but in many ways just beginning, that everything up until now has been laying the groundwork.
This is what winter is for me. A devotion to what must be rooted before it can rise.
